While I was paying for a FIFTY dollar (5 minute) diagnostic. I noticed the guy that 'seemed to be in charge', not sure of his name but has a strong accent. (After he had quoted me a ridiculous price and when I questioned it, he thought it was funny.) I later found out the $1,200 he quoted me was actually twice what it would cost at another repair shop for replacing struts. I could see him through the glass, talking to another employee, looking out at me and laughing, then he rolled his chair back quickly, so I couldn't see him. I'm not sure exactly what he found so funny, but I did take offense to it.
We are so sorry about your experience Nancy. We are glad that our employees are happy and can laugh while they are here. However, I have been assured that no one was laughing at you but was just having some fun with fellow employees. It takes longer than 5 minutes to perform a suspension evaluation, usually 25-30 minutes and we charge for our tech's rack time which was explained to you when booking your appointment. As far as your quote, I will review your estimate on Monday, price depends on vehicle and exactly what all the work was that was required. We also use quality parts and provide a 3 year warranty on parts and labor. As the oldest auto repair on Route 66 for 92 years, we stand behind our work where many places will not. ***After reviewing your quote, as I expected, your quote was for more than "replacing struts." We regret we will not be able to assist you with the level and quality of service provided at O'Brien Tire & Auto Care, and we wish you all the best with your vehicles in the future.***
